Air Conditioning Installers quote template
Air conditioning quotes win on sizing. When your quote names the kilowatt capacity matched to the room dimensions, the client sees an expert; when it just names a price, they see a commodity and shop on cost.
What a air conditioning installer quote should include
- Unit brand, model and kW capacity — sized to the room, with the room dimensions noted
- Install type: back-to-back or complex (long pipe runs, two-storey, roof space)
- Electrical circuit — included, excluded, or an allowance, and who does it
- Removal and disposal of the old unit
- Your ARC licence number (refrigerant handling requires it)
- Manufacturer warranty and your workmanship warranty, stated separately
- Your ABN, GST treatment, and quote validity period

Quoting tips from the field
- Write the room size and the kW you sized to it on the quote. It justifies the model you chose and defuses the 'my mate says I need bigger' conversation.
- State who handles the electrical circuit in plain words. If it's excluded, say what the client should budget — surprise sparkie bills kill reviews.
- Put your ARC tick licence number on the quote. Handling refrigerant without it is illegal, and showing it separates you from the cowboys.
- Photograph the switchboard and proposed unit locations at the quote visit — half the day-one surprises (full boards, no wall space) get solved in the quote instead.
Common questions
Do air conditioning installers charge GST?
If you're registered for GST, show the ex-GST amount, the 10% GST, and the total separately — clients trust a quote they can follow. Once the job is done, the invoice for anything over $82.50 (incl. GST) must be a proper tax invoice showing your ABN.
What licence does an air con installer need?
Anyone handling refrigerant needs an ARC licence (the 'ARC tick'), and electrical work beyond the unit connection must be done by a licensed electrician. Quoting with both numbers visible — yours and your sparkie's — tells the client the job will be compliant and warranty-safe.
Supply and install, or install the client's unit?
Both are normal — the quote just needs to say which. On supply-and-install, name the exact model so a 'same thing cheaper online' conversation happens before you order. On install-only, note that warranty on the unit itself stays with the retailer.
